Studying in our program provided immersive opportunities to bridge language education with real-world applications, particularly through corpus linguistics research in ESP. The hands-on experience in developing materials like Baseball English enhanced my ability to create authentic, context-driven learning tools. Collaborative projects and cultural immersion activities deepened my understanding of how tailored language instruction supports both academic and professional growth. These insights have directly informed my teaching methods at universites in South Korea, Japan, United States, and my work in professional baseball scouting, where cross-cultural communication is vital. The program’s emphasis on action-based research continues to shape my publishing efforts in English for Specific Purposes. Additionally, the research skills and analytical methodologies I developed at Kyung Hee have been invaluable in my current role as a school librarian, where I help students navigate complex information landscapes and develop critical research skills. (Philip S. Riccobono, Ph.D. English Teaching Track, Clark County School District, USA)

My time doing the PhD program at BALC was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. What left the deepest impression on me were Professor Sung’s insights into critical pedagogy and Professor Michelle Lee’s expertise in English education and technology. Moreover, the diverse and international classroom environment broadened my perspective and deepened my understanding of intercultural values. I gained much knowledge, developed research methodologies, and built lasting friendships here. These experiences continue to shape me and I continue to apply them in my teaching and research in College in China now. Building on my interest in cultural theories first encountered during my undergraduate studies, I decided to go on to graduate program in order to delve deeper into British and American culture and critical theory. One of the most significant advantages I found in this program was the broad scope of courses, all firmly grounded in a solid theoretical framework. The insightful questions posed by professors and fellow students in seminars opened up new perspectives for me, while the meticulous critique and verification processes involved in writing my thesis helped refine my scholarly approach. This theoretical training has served as a strong foundation, one that can be applied across a range of research fields. (Minseok Song, MA, Culture Track, Researcher, Thaumazein Foundation)
