Linguistics & English Teaching Track
Educational Objectives of the Program
- 1. Enhancing both academic and language abilities to help students become professional researchers and practitioners in ELT
2. Cultivating students' understanding of diverse people with multi-cultural/lingual backgrounds to become language/educational experts to meet specific needs of the society and the world.
3. Develop pedagogical abilities and skills to adapt their research and teaching in newly changing environments in the age of transformative technology such as A.I., machine learning, data-driven research and teaching. etc.
Characteristics of the Program
- 1. Offer all courses in English taught by experts in the fields of language and education
2. Extensive offering of the courses which focus on theories, research, and practices in an integrated manner
3. Specially designed for both English and non-English majors at their undergraduate work
4. Offer the concentration track and independent studies to meet individual academic and professional goals
5. Offer foundational courses for applied linguistics and English education and other areas such as techonology-assisted language teaching, language evaluations, critical pedagogy, and culture teaching in ELT, etc.
6. Provide helpful guidance for research methodologies and thesis writing based on topics or themes chosen by students
7. Offer scholarships for foreign applicants and regular special lectures and seminars.
Cultural Studies Track
- The graduate program of cultural studies offers students at the MA and Ph.D. level a variety of courses on critical theory, literary criticism, British & American literature, film, and popular culture. The educational purpose of the program is to enable students to acquire professional skills in analyzing literary texts, media texts, media cultures, media industries, sociopolitical events, as well as cultural phenomena and movements in various historical periods.
